Media DB Engine (MDB) (DSA-0700-15) (rus)
The Media DB Engine (Media DB, MDB) is a special database working under the control of the Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 (any version of SQL Server 2000/2005/2008) is supported, although at using of the free versions Express and Express Advanced some functions, including full text search and some service functions, are not available). MDB stores descriptions of the elements, a set of categories and attributes, created by the user, and other information. The MDB structure provides for the allocation of elements according to categories. A single element may belong to several categories. A lot of useful things can be done using the database: the establishment of a hierarchical category structure with unlimited nesting capacity, provision of a fast search engine with complex search conditions (e.g. you can easily obtain a list of titles, written by one author of all news items prepared by the same journalist), and much more.
The main task of the MDB is to provide the well-structured storage of elements for easy and fast search for needed material. The integrated administration facilities (if Administration System module (DSM-048-15) is installed) allow for the limitation of the rights of the different users, allowing them to work only with a certain range of materials and perform only a specifically defined range of actions in relation to their specific tasks. This secures unintended changes or deletion of material. A large number of DIGISPOT®II modules use the database for the support of a wide variety of individual tasks.
Media DB has the following benefits in front of other means of data storage (File Browser]* (DSM-002-15) and [wikiDiDevDocDSIIModulesDSM-037-15_EN Folders Browser (DSM-037-15) modules ):*
= =
1. Definition of user rights depending upon the type and category of material.
2. Independence of the DB content (DB elements) of the form of storage.
3. Extended search engine with setting of several conditions of search, context search, sorting and filtering by different criteria, search by wordforms.
4. Categories structure as flexible instrument of media elements workflow structure.
5. Categories structure as means of content regulation and systematization.
6. Fast access to content.
7. Gap filler module is based on MDB.
8. Automatic schedule elements update system is working with MDB.
9. File system performance depends upon a number of elements in a folder (while using Folders Browser* *(DSM-037-15) ). This dependence is nonlinear. At the quantity of elements more than 10000, time of opening of a folder is dramatically increased. MDB is handling these quantities fluently.
Media DB Engine provides data control and MDB support for 20 client working places. For bigger radio stations you have to use Media DB Engine Advanced(DSA-2900-15).
